Most deposit disputes happen because the scooter's condition wasn't recorded at handover. Take five minutes for the checklist below — it can save your deposit.

When you pick up the scooter

  1. Film a video walking around the scooter, front to back, left and right.
  2. Take close-ups of every existing scratch, crack or dent.
  3. Photograph the odometer and fuel gauge.
  4. Check the front & rear brakes — the levers shouldn't pull in too far.
  5. Check the tyres: clear tread, no bulges or cracks.
  6. Test the headlight, brake light, indicators and horn.
  7. Make sure the STNK (registration card) is there and valid, and the number plate matches it.
  8. Check the helmet: it fits and the strap buckle works.
  9. Ask which fuel is recommended and what fuel level to return it with.

During the rental

  • Park in official spots and always lock the handlebars.
  • Report any damage, however small, to the rental straight away.
  • Don't take the scooter to a workshop without the rental's approval, except for an emergency puncture repair.

When you return it

  1. Return it on time, as agreed in your booking.
  2. Refuel to the same level as when you picked it up.
  3. Inspect it together with the rental and compare against your first photos.
  4. Ask for confirmation that your deposit will be returned.

Keep all photos and videos until your deposit is actually back.
