Bali is one of the most popular holiday destinations for Indian travellers, and riding a scooter is the easiest way to get around. The good news: Indian riders already know scooter traffic. Here's the paperwork you need and what's different on Bali's roads.

What's different from riding in India

  • Like India, Indonesia drives on the left, so the road layout will feel familiar.
  • Helmets are strictly required for rider and passenger, including on short trips.
  • Police checkpoints are common in Kuta, Canggu and on main roads; carry your licence, IDP and the bike's STNK.
  • Roads in the hills (Kintamani, Bedugul) are steep and winding; brake early on descents.

Book on WhatsApp or via the Bali scooter rental catalogue: the bike is delivered to your hotel or villa and you pay when it arrives.

Travelling as a family? Only one passenger is allowed per scooter in Indonesia. For groups, a car with driver is safer and often cheaper.
